Sindeo - 2016

Sindeo One is an online mortgage application and Sindeo’s first major consumer facing product. From the outset we focused on building a sleek and intuitive app that would raise the bar for the mortgage industry as a whole.  

 

My responsibilities included:

  • Leading our user/market research,

  • Creating the core user experience,

  • Refining our visual design, iterating on concepts

  • Building prototypes for demoing to executives.

Reducing fatigue

One thing we saw commonly with customers buying a home, was that they would get overwhelmed by the complexity of the mortgage process. To counteract this we built our product to help focus the users on the task at hand and guide them through the app at their own pace.

No one is or wants to be an expert

Through our user research we found that even customers who had bought multiple mortgages lacked an in-depth knowledge about the process. So we added a tips card to provide helpful bits of information that appear concurrently with the question a user was currently on.

What you see is what you get

A common problem future homebuyers encountered while getting a mortgage online was remembering the details of the loan they were applying for. To be as up front as possible, the borrowers loan information was visible at all times so they would always be aware of what they were purchasing.

Outcome

Within a few months of launching we saw a dramatic increase of homebuyers getting pre-approved, which doubled our monthly sales.
