QuickBooks Insurance
QuickBooks - 2019
QuickBooks Insurance is a new product offering from Intuit focused on helping business owners keep their business protected. The first product we launched was a stand alone digital insurance platform.
My responsibilities included:
Leading our user/market research
Creating the core user experience
Iterating on concepts, building prototypes
Developing the teams design principles that we used to for this and future insurance products.
Start off on the right foot
We wanted to build a welcoming page for business owners that focused on building their confidence. While we did have the QuickBooks brand to lean on, it was important that our visual and content design conveyed that we were the right team to help keep their businesses protected.
Choose what you need
Our initial product offerings were limited to the two most common business insurance policies. However through our research we realized many businesses need multiple forms of coverage. In order to learn what our customers would need from us in the future we added in a policy selector and partnered with another broker to cover all their policy needs.
Streamlining the process
Once a business owner made it into the main application we tried to reduce the amount of information that was needed. While some information could be pre-filled from QuickBooks the application had to be easily digestible and focused enough for any business owner to get through the experience in a couple minutes, regardless of pre-filled data.
Find the plan for you
The policy selection page was the most crucial point in the shopping process. In order for this page and the application to be successful it had to build up a customer’s confidence. The information on the page had to clearly state what would be bought but not overwhelm business owners with too much information.
Everything on the go
Since QuickBooks Insurance was a standalone product we had to make sure business owners could purchase insurance on any device. QuickBooks is primarily a desktop based platform so building a cohesive mobile experience fell on our teams shoulders.
